Earlier this month, several members of our congregation were given the privilege to travel to the Dominican Republic and serve alongside Pastor Raul and YWAM Azua. The team of 11 spent their nine days visiting with the local children, building the neighborhood's first water cistern, teaching at the YWAM DTS and connecting with community members. There was also a great deal of getting familiar with the warm climate culture...meaning people are much higher valued than the time or schedule. Smiles and a few short phrases in Spanish helped our team communicate their love of Christ across the sometimes wide cultural divide.
Sweating working with the church members and seeing the impact they have on the community.
Being handed a pry bar and asked to move a 3,000 lb stone from the future school foundation site.
Hearing the testimonies of the DTS students as they devote 6 months of their life to hearing from God.
Taking 8 hours to buy 25 pieces of re-bar.
Laying the foundation (literally and figuratively) for future trips to the DR.
