Langford: MADE IT TO ENGLAND

Hello to our wonderful supporters-

We are excited to send you warm greetings from Birkenhead, England. Our journey began on Monday with a short drive from Decatur, AL to Atlanta, GA with Audrey's parents. Prior to our flight we enjoyed dinner with my dad, step-mom, sister, brother-in-law, niece and two nephews. It was nice to spend time with family before our flight but very sad to say goodbye. Audrey's parents dropped us off at the airport where we exchanged final goodbyes and headed for our first security checkpoint of the trip. Audrey made it quickly through security but I had to head back to the British Airways ticket desk to have my boarding pass changed from Z Langford  to Zachary Langford.  We arrived in London and proceeded to our connecting gate beyond UK border patrol. After looking over Audrey's passport and visa I was called over for my passport to be examined. Friendly reminder: Bring supporting documents if you plan to work in the UK. After waiting for 15 minutes the border patrol officer returned our stamped passports and let us pass. Apparently a UK issued work visa will not suffice. After a short flight from London to Manchester we were greeted by Pastor John Pemberton and Pastor Lil Fox.

After a short drive to Birkenhead John made us a nice English breakfast of beans, mushrooms, bacon, and toast. When we finished Audrey and I went for a nap that tuned into a long sleep. This afternoon we enjoyed visiting with several church members during a weekly luncheon and prayer meeting held at Birkenhead Church of God. This evening we will join Mark Rainford, Birkenhead youth leader, for a weekly meeting for local teenagers. It is exciting and humbling to reconnect with so many we have missed and have been praying for.

Thank you for your support and encouragement over the past two years and presently. It means a lot to have so many in prayer for us and the other members of our team.

  • Please continue to pray for our transition into British life. We will begin to locate our permanent housing in the coming weeks. Currently, John and Linda have graciously offered their spare bedroom to us. If you would like to send a letter to us use the below address.
  • Pray for the local church and the connections that are being made. Many teenagers have continued to be apart of the weekly teen meeting and have started helping with younger youth meetings.
  • In November Audrey and I will join the Three Worlds (3W) team in Athens, Greece for our yearly team meeting. The team will seek out opportunities to support and encourage the Athens Church of God. Also, we will discuss planning for the 2016 European Youth Convention that will take place at the Athens church.
  • Please lift up our newest team members, the Weigers, as they begin the fundraising process.
