American Football without Borders: Oldhams in Cairo

We had a bit of a surprise here in Cairo over the past couple days - a NFL "American Football Without Barriers" camp was scheduled to take place at the American University of Cairo.  There are actually 6 college and adult league teams in Egypt, and this group of 12 NFL players agreed to come provide a camp for the participants.  But, a player on the host university's team died suddenly last week (not related to the sport) - culturally, you do not continue with plans or showing any kind of excitement during the mourning process.  So, 12 NFL players were in town prepared to hold a camp and needed a venue - and just like that, 12 NFL players invaded our kids' school's campus.  They also allowed a certain number of students to join a couple sessions today and tomorrow.  Grace and Zeke were among the students who got quite a work out and some memorable experiences with the players today.  (Among the players, the ever-entertaining, and sometimes controversial ;) Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks.)

So in the midst of the chaos that usually brings unexpected hurdles to daily life in Cairo, there are also unexpected opportunities.

✴Pray for the Cairo Christian Fellowship and their Kids Program to continue to grow in number and in effective service to the families.

✴Pray for wisdom for the leaders of the Church of God in Egypt as they have unique opportunities for growth, and challenges to overcome.

✴Pray for the Church of God in Rome as they continue to refocus their ministries on outreach.

✴Pray for our fund-raising and planning for our summer home assignment. .

✴Pray for an important visit and m e e t i n g s w i t h o u r r e g i o n a l coordinators, the Nachtigall family, March 19-26.

✴Pray for our annual visa renewal process to be completed without complication by April.

✴Pray for the Church of God in the Europe and Middle East region to be able to partner together in service to the refugee crisis and to discover new ways of ministering together in 2016.
