Sunday in San Vincente, Ecuador

Waking up this morning and seeing the Pacific Ocean was quite a site. Also, knowing we were not going to be traveling great distances for a number of days was a plus. The scripture from Psalm 118 says it best, "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His loves endures forever." I had to stand there for a moment looking at the ocean stretch out over the horizon and give thanks to a good God.

The team participated in church service where the message was about who is first in your life, I would call this a divine echo. The message of "I am second" has followed us to Ecuador and the "who is first" bracelets came in handy. Many of those who came had just recently received Christ as their Lord and Savior, some even who had received a home by IAM.
After service we split into two teams to build not one home but two different homes. Today's half-day of work felt like a full day, digging foundation holes, trenches and chiseling away at former foundations making room for the new house. We even managed to send off three more people to host a kids vbs program. There was no shortage of work to do, and the team met the challenges in every way possible.

Walking around town today, the devastation from the April earthquake became more evident. Homes with sections of brick wall missing, whole homes collapsed in on themselves, tent cities and various stages of rebuilding taking place. It became clear why we are here. For such a time as this. God is at work here in a mighty way through many incredible people. He is opening doors that were never a possibility before. We are glad to be here and to participate in the Kingdom work that is already happening. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Blessings,
Ecuador Team
