Spring Break to Mexico 2016 - 3

Breakfast was delightful when we had pancakes, and even some cereal at around 7:30 this morning. Around nine is when we went to the work site where we would start building the house for a family close by. The family consisted of the two parents, and four kids (three girls, one boy). The foundation for the house was already placed, and the cinder-blocks used for the walls were four blocks high. Jose, our main construction leader, showed us how to lay down the cement (after mixing) and blocks to build up the wall. After working for about three hours, we went back to Welcome Home for lunch. We then went back to the work site for another three hours to finish the walls. There was a lot accomplished in one day, especially with the amount of people we had! A lot of us learned a valuable lesson as well: sunscreen is very important. After finishing up, we went out to a church called "New Beginnings" and celebrated their four year anniversary with them. It was cool to talk, eat, and even take down a piñata with new friendly people none of us had ever met before. It was Jadon's birthday today as well, so we thought that buying another piñata would be a great idea! Jadon picked out a soccer ball piñata, and he took that thing down once we got back to Welcome Home! Hopefully nobody will get sick from eating all the candy they gathered from the piñata, but even if anyone did eat too much, then a good night's rest tonight should do them good for working tomorrow!
